Job Description

Medical Equipment Source, LLC (MES) is looking for a Warehouse/Production Manager.  MES is a privately held laboratory equipment sales and service company specializing in the Histology/Pathology space located across the US.

The warehouse/production manager (WPM) is a vital part of the supply chain process and the MES management team. The WPM oversees the efficient receipt, condition assessment, storage, remanufacturing, quality assurance, order fulfillment and warranty work of products bought and sold by MES.  In addition, the WPM is responsible for the timely training, scheduling, and execution of the MES’s repair services and preventative maintenance products to ensure complete customer satisfaction.

The WPM will adhere to MES’s high standard of product excellence by ensuring that each remanufactured and new product meets or exceeds the Original Equipment Manufacturer’s (OEM) operational and aesthetics specifications. The WPM will be called on to execute service calls when necessary, which will result in the WPM traveling to lab locations and may involve overnight stays.

The WPM reports to the MES General Manager.

Job Duties

    • Manage people, processes and systems to ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are effectively followed and properly maintained
    • Oversee the maintenance of warehouse
    • Work within the CRM/ERP system
    • Establish and follow appropriate workplace health and safety standards
    • Ensure the security of the buildings and inventory
    • Manage the warehouse staff and deal with personnel issues such as, but not limited to, recruitment, training, evaluating and discipline of staff
    • Have a clear understanding of the company’s policies and vision and how the warehouse contributes to these
    • Effectively interact with MES management and other department employees, customers and vendors to continually support MES’s vision and growth
    • Proactively identify issues/problems, offering solutions and discussing outcomes with appropriate personnel
    • Use space and mechanical equipment efficiently, making sure quality, budgetary targets and environmental objectives are met
    • Coordinate and ensure the use of automated and computerized systems to increase the efficiency of the department. For example:  managing the department’s input/output of labor hours, expense reports, work orders and work logs
    • Respond to and deal with timely and professional customer communication by email, telephone, and/or site visit
    • Keep inventory control systems up-to-date, ensuring inventories are accurate
    • Organize the recruitment and training of staff, as well as monitoring staff performance and progress
    • Enforce employee handbook rules and regulations
    • Motivate, organize and encouraging teamwork within the workforce to ensure productivity, SOP’s and company quality standards are met or exceeded
    • Travel to customer sites for warranty repair, PM’s and service when necessary
    • Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in the work environment. For example:  ensure that chemical and reagents are properly handled and stored
    • Oversee the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery and equipment
    • Research new products/revenue opportunities
    • Procure equipment, parts and materials in a cost-effective manner to ensure an appropriate supply on hand to effectively remanufacture equipment-and support the Service business
    • Any other assignments as directed by the General Manager

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience preferably in a service technician role
  • Knowledge of how to maintain, repair, diagnose, troubleshoot and correctly install complex laboratory equipment, ensuring that the equipment works correctly and safely
  • Excellent communication skills and a good demeanor
  • Strong technical knowledge of blueprints, diagrams, mechanical engineering schematics and electrical diagrams
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good computer skills (experience with ERP systems a plus)
  • Able to stand and bend for long periods of time in a warehouse environment – the ability to move through confined spaces – able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Physical stamina in the handling of complex tools and heavy equipment (experience driving a forklift a plus)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while using own technical judgment regarding complex tasks
  • Able to travel by car or by plane – able to rent a car
  • Due to customer requirements, proof of COVID vaccination is required (or willingness to get vaccinated)
